Summer Reading -- part of the Shameless Summer Blog Hop

Dani's back porch
It's summertime and the reading is easy! One of my favorite places to spend time with a book is my back porch. I grow tons of flowers in pots out there, have a few little touches of Mexico here and there and look out on a small woods. And just to add some spooky inspiration for the paranormal romances I love to read and write, there's an abandoned house in the midst of the trees! (You can just see the brown shingled wall in the background - "Cabin in the Woods" anyone?)

Recently I fell in love with Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, so that's been my summer reading project so far. On book 3! Also on my list are more of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher (I'm on Book 3) and the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne (I'm on Book 4). And because summer is a perfect time to reread old favorites from the keeper shelf, I'm just finishing the Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts. Last but definitely not least, I have my copy of Lover Reborn by JR Ward standing by --- I'm a dedicated BDB fan!

  1. Congrats on Changeling Dream getting chosen as one of the top ten books of 2011! Deserves it! I'm happiest curled up in a chair in my living room or else curled up with a load of pillows in bed to read! Only two places I can get some peace and quiet to read!

  2. When I get quiet time I curl up on the couch with a pillow or hide outside on the porch and hope no one finds me. Alas, that is usually in less than 5 minutes. That is why I usually stay up way to late and need loads of coffee the next day! lfacchini(at)tampabay(dot)rr(dot)com

  75. Not to sound repetitive, but my favorite spot to read is in bed. All the pillows make it easy to be comfortable. Unless it's cold then I go to the warmth.

  79. I usually read on my bed with body pillows behind me. If I can get away, I go to a wonderful garden built near a local hospital and hospice center. Pond, lots of trees, plants, benches and swings.

  89. I'm going to be honest and say the bathroom :) Kids are all out of school and in the midst of fighting and "MOM" I like to sneak away to the bathroom to do my "business" when in reality I'm actually sitting on the floor with the fan on and the door locked and doing some reading :)
