Of course you all KNOW how I'm going to vote... Werewolves make the best boyfriends!
No matter what you call them – shapeshifters, Changelings (as they call themselves in my paranormal romance series) or lycans – werewolves totally ROCK as significant others.

Here’s why –
1. A werewolf boyfriend is always around. He never disappears when the sun comes up and he can take you the beach. He won’t sparkle or combust at the family picnic in July. (He may eat all the food – but then, Aunt Mabel will be thrilled that somebody finally liked her marshmallow salad…)
2. A werewolf boyfriend is strong. We’re talking muscles upon muscles here. You’ll never hear him complain when you ask him to move the piano. And the couch. And the refrigerator. At the same time. At the mall, he’ll carry your bags. And you, when your feet get tired.
3. A werewolf boyfriend is sexy. After all, he has that whole animal magnetism thing going on. And by the way, you don’t have to worry about him running out of steam. He has stamina and then some in the boudoir.

I 100% prefer Werewolf boyfriend over Vampire boyfriend. Don't get me wrong Vamps aren't all bad and there are some sexy vamps out there (that don't sparkle!) but Werewolves get my vote over vampires everytime! They're sexy, loyal, protective and not afraid to show the world how much they love you and that you're their woman! Plus because they mate for life, you don't have to worry about them checking out other women or cheating on you ever!

I love vampires - but if I had to choose the better boyfriend it would be shifters, hands down. I'm a sun worshipper (figuratively) and would have a hard time giving of sunbathing, sunlight, daytime, etc. Besides, how could I resist a handsome, protective, WARM, body? Especially if they look like Alcide in TrueBlood?! :)

I have always loved wolves. They are such beautiful, majestic, and just plain magical creatures to me. I can stare at a picture of a wolf for hours. Their eyes are very expressive.

ReplyDeleteIt is really tough to decide. I a feeling that both are quite a bit the same as far as being focused only on you and having tons of strength. I however need an electric blanket and constant supervision during the daylight hours. So....I have to go with werewolf on this one.

ReplyDeleteI find it fascinating how social outcasts from decades ago are now the societies' darlings. When I was a kid I snuck into the loungeroom to watch B-rated Hammer movies. My favourite then of cause was Christopher Lee's Dracula and oh my, had I had a crush on this elderly, distinguished, tux wearing gentleman vampire. Wolfman was the poor relative and the closest I had to the nowadays hot, sexy, muscle-packed, gorgeous hunks with their inner beast was, you guessed it, the beast from "the Beauty and the Beast" (and I am talking the French version in black and white and the earlier Hollywood version in colour, not Disney).
ReplyDeleteToday, I am flooded with different kinds of vampires and while the villains still resemble the fiend from the dark most vampires of civil society are clean, shaven, drink only when needed and prefer artificial or voluntarily given (bloodbanks) blood. Some even are able to continue to have body temperature, that wows me everytime, considering that they are dead!
On the assumption that these creatures exist, I have been thinking lately (probably because we had some meat going off in the fridge) that vampires would have to follow a very rigorous dental hygiene, otherwise they would have a really bad mouth odour. I don't believe in the theory that they have to kill only once a year or not at all or have to drink blood only once in a month. While weres probably tear throats out and therefore suffer from a certain bad mouth odour as well, they are coming pretty close to the female cycle, getting all frisky with the full moon once a month, suffer from too much gorgeousness and shed hair on the couch. And when they sprout such beautiful fur (like Hugh Jackman in "Van Helsing") then I say, bring me the WEREWOLF anytime!!!
Oh yes, Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing was definitely swoonworthy!

You do know that according to folklore, vampires could probably bench press a truck, right? Could a werewolf really do that? And in most old stories, vampires can be out in the daylight; a lot of "combustion" stories came from early Hollywood. (The confusion came from tales which said vampires feared the rooster's crow--a lot of so-called "evil" things feared that, and other loud noises, such as bells. And it just so happens rooster's crow at dawn...and any other time they feel like it. Seriously, roosters are awful. Don't keep them as pets.)
ReplyDeleteWhat it boils down to for me is that werewolves tend to possess all the traits I would hate in a partner--aggression, possessiveness, need for conformity--traits some people see as protective and masculine, but are a huge turn-off for me. Loyalty is good; some guy thinking he "owns" me is not.
I've noticed that most novels emphasize an aggressive and possessive Alpha personality in werewolves. I wouldn't like that either. That's why I've written my Changeling stories differently. Oh yes, the guys could still drive you crazy just because they're men, LOL, but the characters retain their humanity while in wolfen form -- something that the ancient "garwolves" did.
